Once you find a painting pro you want to hire, be sure to have a detailed contract that includes the scope of work and prices for all materials and paint that is being used. Find out how many coats of paint will be applied as well as the brand of paint that will be used. Most decent painting pros will use quality brands like BEHR or Sherwin Williams. The contract should also spell out the time frame to complete the project and as well as set up clean up details. Broomfield House Painting
Hi Dan, your pricing is definitely going to be on the high end of our pricing tables. Trimming tudor-style jobs can take a long time, especially if you’re cutting in near the body color (painting 3 sides of the trim instead of just the front). The color change is going to increase time even more because you might have to go over the trim a couple times by hand just to cover. I would bid high on this job. Broomfield Home Painting
Paint supplies cost anywhere from $10 to $100 or more depending on what you need. Painters will typically provide most of the supplies for a project, but sometimes they will allow you to pay for solely labor if you provide all the materials yourself. You might decide to do a DIY paint job down the road. In which case having these supplies on-hand will save you time and money. Broomfield Home Painting

We made 1 coat a default option, as that is what most quotes are based on. However, we strongly recommend that you do 2 coats, when painting your home. While it ads about 30% to the total cost, your 2-coat paint job should last twice as long as single coat, at a fraction of the cost. This means that instead of painting your home again in 5 years, you will need to do it again in 9-10 years! House Painting Broomfield CO

Get estimates from several contractors, request and contact references, search for complaints at the Better Business Bureau[12] and check that the company is properly bonded and insured, as well as licensed in your state[13] . Only pay a small deposit, and don't pay the entire amount until the job is finished to your complete satisfaction (both painting and cleanup). House Painting Broomfield Colorado
When You Screw Up Will you mess up a couple times? Definitely. More than a couple. I have messed up a lot of painting estimates. But every time we mess up (and we still do), we learn from those mistakes and never make the same mistakes twice. Screwing up and failing is how you learn. Be ready to make never-ending tweaks and adjustments to your estimates. There is no way to be in business and not screw up. Learn to embrace those failures, and learn from them. If you do screw up your bid, that’s ok. You have to price yourself incredibly low to actually lose money. So don’t sweat. Just learn. House Painting Broomfield CO
Hey Chandler, we have a house 2565 sq ft with the old wood trim on windows and doors. Doors are solid dark wood. We would paint all walls and doors and trim and baseboards. We also would be painting the cabinets in the kitchen from wood to white. We are trying to determine a final all in labor cost + a timeframe to do the job. The trim is trim time is throwing us off a bit. And personally, thank you very much for your time and sacrifice on this blog you have helped many many people. Broomfield House Painting
Hi there I’ve been running my business for over a year and I have come to realize that due to the area I live seems that. When I bid people think it’s way to much because we live in a very small town. I know other painters in my area and they run into the same issue on average my business is only making 350.00 a day if I try to bid it higher it turns people away. How can I help my business earn more?
Very nice blog. Pretty good information. BTW, how do you estimate the equipment cost for a painting project? You might have spray machines bought 3 years ago or may be renting such machines. So how much equipment cost will you charge for a given project? Also how about the overhead cost – like insurance, rent, ad, vehicle, utility, salary…etc… ? How do you figure out how much overhead cost to be charged on a given painting project? Broomfield Home Painting
